Presentazione
Coupling cutting edge methodologies with classical training in biology, the Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology will shape the modern biotechnologist and will lay the path to the best doctoral studies.
Along with lectures, laboratory courses supported by exceptional facilities and seminars, the master thesis will be based on research projects at the excellent research facilities of the Centre for Integrative Biology at the University of Trento, in other Italian and European universities, as well as in companies operating in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical field.
We offer high level training in basic research as well as applied research and R&D, focusing on biomedicine and providing the best career opportunities in industry, the public sector and the academic world.
Obiettivi
The Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology provide students with a high level of expertise to design and perform analyses, basic research, applied research, and R&D in biotechnology, with special reference to the biomedicine field.
The course enables students to acquire:
- detailed knowledge of functioning and regulation of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells;
- detailed knowledge of methods aimed at the structural and functional characterization of biological macromolecules and cellular processes in which they are involved;
- detailed knowledge of the pathological processes in humans, at the molecular, cellular and systemic levels;
- methodological and technological skills related to cellular and molecular biotechnology, with particular reference to cell culture techniques;
- bioinformatics skills for the organization and access to databases, with particular reference to genomics, proteomics and metabolomics;
- skills in molecular modeling for the design of molecules of biomedical interest;
- skills for the design and manufacturing of biotechnology products, such as biopharmaceuticals, diagnostics, vaccines;
- basic knowledge of biotechnology economics, organization, business and project management, including aspects related to intellectual property.
Didattica
Teaching activities include lectures, laboratory courses and seminars. The master thesis will be prepared during the second half of the second year of the Master program. Research projects will be proposed to the Master of Science students at the CIBIO, Centre for Integrative Biology from the University of Trento, but also in other Italian and European universities, as well as in companies operating in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical field.
