The Master programme in Urban Design relates to the sustainable design of urban spaces with a focus on strategies for saving energy and co-generation, information technology and new approaches to mobility.

The Master in Urban Design aims the training of a professional prepared to provide advice and space projects or services useful to government and non-governmental organizations that administer the urban space on a local scale in a sustainable development perspective.
The Master programme will bring students to develop skills in observation, analysis and understanding of the area and the subsequent design of public and semi-public spaces.

The master course consists of a combination of courses designed to provide the theoretical and practical bases that constitute the tools available to professionals called upon to design the public space of the city of tomorrow.
Each course will pay particular attention to saving energy and co-generation, the opportunities provided by digital technologies in terms of safety, communication and monitoring and the challenges of sustainable mobility, such as bike paths, electric cars, light distribution of goods.

The objective of the Preliminary Module is to provide students with the knowledge base in the field of urban planning, subject that, together with the decision-making processes, policy development and the involvement of stakeholders and the public, led to the formation of different urban contexts. As far as practical approaches for the design, during the same training period, students will be well prepared to deal with the design of the public space using elements of lighting, plant material, furniture and mobility structures connected by trails and facilities.
The Master Module has the objective of training and awareness of the students on the issues of urban sustainability, introduced through the LEED certification system with regard to the sphere of the environment: local development and budgeting with regard to society and the economy. In addition, students will be invited to face, in a practical way in the thesis and project-work, digital technology, art, and security as key features and strategies for the development and training of public and semi-public space.

IAAD students will be asked not only to recognize the business aspects of the project, but also to gain the marketing skills to promote themselves - essential to present and explain one's works and talents. Presentations and contests are highly rated during the Master. Students are encouraged to prepare presentations for their work and supported in participating in international and national contests.
